1. About This Directory
Black Doulas UK is an online directory connecting Black doulas across the United Kingdom with those seeking support. By using this website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
2. For Parents and Caregivers
2a. Nature of the Service
The directory provides visibility of doulas’ services across the UK.
Black Doulas UK does not train, certify, endorse, supervise, or regulate any doulas.
Parents and caregivers are responsible for making their own enquiries and decisions before engaging any doula.
2b. Acceptable Use
When using the site, you agree not to:
∙ Misuse contact information obtained through the directory
∙ Provide false or misleading information
∙ Use automated tools to access, extract, or interfere with the platform
Misuse may result in removal of access to the directory.
3. For Doulas
3a. Listing Information
Doulas are responsible for submitting truthful, accurate, and up-to-date information, including services, experience, qualifications (if provided), contact details, location, and profile images.
Black Doulas UK does not verify qualifications, certifications, or training.
We reserve the right to review, edit, refuse, suspend, or remove any listing at our discretion.
3b. Payments and Refunds
All payments made to Black Doulas UK for standard or homepage listings are non-refundable. Please ensure all information is correct before purchase.
3c. Listing Duration and Renewal
All listings are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. Listings do not renew automatically - doulas are responsible for manually renewing their listing before it expires. Black Doulas UK will send a reminder email in advance of the expiry date. Failure to renew will result in the listing being removed from the directory.
3d. Updates to Listings
Doulas may make up to three updates per calendar quarter at no additional cost. Updates include changes to services, experience, contact details, location, or profile images.
Any changes beyond the three allowed per quarter will incur a £30 administrative fee per change.
All updates are subject to review and approval by Black Doulas UK to ensure accuracy and quality.
3e. Acceptable Use
Doulas agree not to:
∙ Submit false, misleading, or illegal information
∙ Misuse contact details from other users
∙ Use automated methods to access, extract, or interfere with the site
3f. Content and Intellectual Property
All website content, including design, layout, and materials, belongs to Black Doulas UK unless otherwise stated.
By submitting a listing, doulas grant Black Doulas UK permission to display and use submitted content (including images and text) for the directory and related promotional purposes.
4. Privacy
Use of the directory is subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how personal data is collected, stored, and protected in line with UK GDPR.
5. Safeguarding Notice
Black Doulas UK is an information and visibility directory only. It is not an emergency service and does not provide medical advice or care. The directory is not a substitute for professional medical support. If you have an urgent medical concern, please contact your midwife, GP, or healthcare provider immediately.
6. Disclaimers & Liability
The directory is provided for general information and visibility purposes only.
Black Doulas UK does not guarantee enquiries, bookings, or outcomes from listings or use of the site.
We are not responsible for any agreements, services, or interactions between parents/caregivers and doulas.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Black Doulas UK will not be liable for any direct or indirect loss or damages arising from use of the platform.
7. Contact & Complaints
If you have a complaint or concern about a listing or use of the directory, please contact us by email at hello@blackdoulas.co.uk. We aim to respond to all complaints within 10 business days.
If a doula wishes to appeal the removal of their listing, they may do so by emailing hello@blackdoulas.co.uk with the grounds for their appeal. All appeals will be reviewed and a decision communicated within 10 business days.

9. Changes to Terms
Black Doulas UK may update these Terms of Use at any time. Updates will be posted on this page. Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of any changes.

These Terms are governed by English law. Any disputes arising shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
